Recently, I came across something strikingly shocking, fascinating, obscure, and yet, completely obvious.
Few of us have an "Exit Plan."
An Exit Plan is a comprehensive, compelling, strategy for leaving feeling fantastic.
When you aren't experiencing exactly what you expected; when it's clear that the vision you see has become blurry-or is simply no longer your own-it's not uncommon to contemplate moving on.
In the scorching heat of any moment, it's very easy (and most times, unwise) to say, "I'm out of here!"
Resist the temptation.
More often than not, leaving on a wilted whim will wreak havoc in the immediate hours, days, and quite possibly, years to come.
Remember that.
Whether your departure is involuntary or not, walking out any door for the last time need not lead you to the end of your world.
Consider an Exit Plan. Whether you're irritated, frustrated, agitated or just exceptionally motivated ... it's imperative that you have a strategic plan for exit, before you move on. An exceptional Exit Plan will bring steady to your rocked world and prepare you for your "what's next." It automatically leads you to an exciting future, because you adopted-in advance- a willingness to let go of your past.
The key is to create your exit plan before moving on. Make sure it details not only how you are going to manage your resources and immediate needs, but why you are going to sustain your lightheartedness, self-esteem, humor and what's most important to you.
The intrinsic value of your Exit Plan is determined by your ability to implement it. You must know exactly what it is you are seeking. Revisit who you are, what you truly desire to do, and where you want to go.
"Why am I committed to enthusiastically pursue new opportunities?"
"Who are the resources, supporters and mentors of my God-given gifts and talents?"
Questions like these will empower, encourage, and ultimately connect you with your vision.
Get very clear. What is it that will give you the greatest fulfillment? Don't just think in financial terms. Think in terms of contribution, relationships and your personal values.
An Exit Plan is a confirmation that you know it is your Divine birthright to achieve. And, you expect-without reservation-something greater to be waiting for you, when it's time to leave.
