Author Usernames & Passwords:
Many article directories these days require that you pre-register your author account and submit a username & password to login in the future. This process can be hard to track, I recommend that you create a "master username" & "password" for all article directories you register with. This will help you to remember your username & password every time! Tips For Using Only One Master Login:
Username & Password Creation:
- Don't create something easy to remember
- Don't use your name
- Don't use your email address
- Don't use your birthday, your kids birthdays, or spouses birthday!
- Don't use your social security number
- Don't use your business tax number
- Don't use your house number
A master username & password has to be completely random! The more random it is, the harder it will be for anyone to figure out.
- You want to use numbers & letters
- You want to have a username & password that is more than 8 characters long
- You will need to write down your username & password somewhere safe and easy to remember

As you can see from this sample, the username & password I used is completely random and pretty much just a mix of letters & numbers. Some of you might be thinking, "that's way too much to remember"... That's correct. That's the whole point. Remember to save your username & password somewhere safe but easy to find when you need it. What If I Want Multiple Usernames & Passwords?
This requires a little more work on your part. The best way to store your multiple usernames & passwords is with Microsoft Excel Spreadsheet. This will help you to store everything into one file. Again, a master username & password is much easier but is less secure.
Setup your spreadsheet with 4 columns:
- Store the article directory url (including http://):
This will help you to click on each directory manually to save yourself some time.
- Store each username separately
- Store each password separately
- Store whether or not you verified each directory and was able to login

A description of your company. I would have 2 different versions ready. Some article directories might ask for a small one paragraph description, while others give you the option to submit a full page biography on your business services or products.
Have An Author Picture Ready!
Some article directories allow you to post an author picture to accompany your articles with. I HIGHLY recommend that you submit an author picture when you can. Authors who have a picture within their article tend to become more credible in the minds of their readers. An author picture also helps to make it more personal for the reader, thus helping of process of building the trust factor with your readers.
Some article directories weight authors with pictures higher than authors without a picture.
Try to keep your author picture between 100 x 100 pixels in size. Anything larger than that may not be accepted online.
Once Registered, Check Your Email Account For Verifications!
Many article directories that require you to register will send you a verification email to make sure that the email account you registered with is a valid one. Some directories may take up to a couple of days to send out their verification email. Make sure to read every email carefully for instructions on how to verify your email account.
Once you verify your email account, try logging into that specific article directory. Some article directories (like article dashboard copycats) aren't setup properly and you may have to request a "re-send validation" email a couple of times. There are some directories that simply just don't work at all, just move onto the next one and maybe revisit those directories later on.
Once your email is verified and you are able to successfully login, update your excel spreadsheet to say "Verified? Yes". This way you will know that you where able to register, verify your email, and login.
